Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja (born 6 December 1988), commonly known as Ravindra Jadeja, is an Indian international cricketer. He is an all-rounder who plays as a left-handed middle-order batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He represents Saurashtra in first-class cricket and the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Jadeja was part of the Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008 under the captaincy of current Indian Captain Virat Kohli. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on February 8, 2009, and scored an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls in that match. However, his Test debut came almost four years later, on December 13, 2012, against England at Nagpur.
Jadeja was bought for $2 million by the Chennai Super Kings at the 2012 IPL Players Auction. He was bought by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL Players' Auction for 9.5 crores after the Chennai Super Kings were banned from the IPL for two seasons. On January 22, 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 One-Day International wickets when he dismissed Sam Billings at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In March 2017, he became the top-ranked bowler in the world, leaving behind Ravichandran Ashwin, who held that position for a long time.

Jadeja's rise does have a lot to do with Dhoni's undying support, but it was actually the IPL that found the Saurashtra boy-or rather the legendary Shane Warne to be precise. As captain of the Rajasthan Royals, the Australian spotted Jadeja's prowess and had said back in 2008-09 that this "rockstar" would go places. He wasn't wrong at all.
After featuring for Rajasthan briefly, Jadeja became an integral part of the Chennai outfit until the squad was briefly suspended after the 2015 season. During the side's two-year hiatus, its players were scattered across, and Jadeja found himself with his native Gujarat franchise—a temporary side. With the Chennai squad returning from the 2018 season onwards, he was among the three people retained-proof enough of how much he is valued there.
One of the main criticisms of Jadeja, the spinner, is that he often bowls darts rather than flighting the ball up and forcing a mistake from a batsman. Dhoni's often chirping to him to bowl slower through the air is picked up by the stump mic and this means he is more of a defensive bowler than an attacking spinner who guarantees you wickets. This is precisely why we see him not being employed to bowl by captains quite a few times on good batting surfaces. 2014 was the best year with the ball for him as he took 19 wickets to be the second highest wicket-taker for the side.
